COMPANY HISTORY
Karl Fahrion Sheet Metal was founded in 1953 by Karl Fahrion, a first generation American born to parents who emigrated here from Esslingen, Germany.Growing up in tight-knit German community of Deutschtown meant that when Karl went off to first grade he only spoke German…and the school sent him home until he learned English! After graduating from Perry High School in 1945 and a short stint in the army, Karl joined the Sheet Metal Workers Local 12. Witnessing the construction boom of the early 50’s, Karl decided to launch his own sheet metal company.He started Karl Fahrion Sheet Metal in 1953, taking over his father’s “tin knocker” shop at 905 Peralta Street.Karl incorporated his business in 1970 and moved his shop around the corner to 1000 Constance Street, where it remains today. When founder Karl passed away in 1989 he left his sheet metal shop to his two daughters, Linda and Debbie, who continue to operate the business today. Fahrion Sheet Metal is a fabrication and installation company on Pittsburgh’s North Side specializing in fabricating customized air ducts, registers, diffusers, fans, and hoods, and also does specialty work in copper, aluminum, and stainless and black iron. The company enjoys an excellent reputation in the city of Pittsburgh for quality work.
