Mission
The mission of the Community College of Allegheny County is to make quality education affordable and accessible to the community, to provide leadership in workforce training, and support the economic development of the region.

CCAC’s Institutional Goals:

About CCAC
The Community College of Allegheny County is the number one choice of high school graduates and the largest provider of educational services in western Pennsylvania, with more students per year than the universities of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, Robert Morris, and Duquesne combined. CCAC is the second largest community college in Pennsylvania, and the nation’s 16th largest multi-campus community college. As such, CCAC recognizes that its own strengths are drawn from the community it serves.  Therefore, the College is dedicated to building strong partnerships and championing solutions to important issues. CCAC has distinguished itself as a national leader in workforce training.

These highlights set CCAC apart from other local colleges:
Affordable– CCAC is the most affordable accredited educational institution in AlleghenyCounty.
Accessible– No other educational institution has as many facilities in neighborhoods throughout the region. CCAC offers four campuses, seven college centers, and Distance Education opportunities; more than 5,000 students currently take online courses. CCAC also offers several certificates and an associate’s degree that can be earned entirely via the Web.
Quality– The job of CCAC’s full-time faculty is quite simply, teaching. Our instructors have won numerous national awards and are dedicated to the success of each student. Small class sizes ensure hands-on instruction.

Other CCAC highlights:
CCAC’s union apprenticeship program with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers has grown to be international in scope and now includes an exchange program with European partners. 
CCAC is the third largest provider of associate’s degree health care program graduates in the country.
Its Distance Learning program has grown by 200 percent in the past three years. It is now possible to earn an entire associate’s degree online.
Annually, CCAC provides strategic tools and techniques to more than 2,000 students with disabilities to enable them to reach their educational goals.
Twenty-two percent of all AlleghenyCounty residents attended CCAC in the last five years.
More than 90,000 credit and noncredit students were enrolled at CCAC during the last academic year.
Among AlleghenyCounty college students, CCAC enrolls about 37 percent of all African Americans, 29 percent of all female students, and 35 percent of all first-time freshmen.
With 94 percent of its career program students remaining in western Pennsylvania after graduation, CCAC provides powerful fuel for the region’s economic development engine.
