Frank & Jerry's Bierhaus, located on Spring Garden Avenue, opened in April of 1986 when cousins, Jerry Lorenz and Frank Weber purchased it.The building housing it was erected in 1910 and was originallyknown as Rauckers Bar.Since Frank's death in 2004, it is now owned by Jerry & his wife Deborah who are in the process of having the trade name changed to The Bierhaus Tavern. Jerry, who is a long time Beer Can and Breweriana collector, wanted to have a public place in which to display his collection and also be able to endulge in one of his favorite pasttimes, drinking Iron City Beer and hanging out with his friends and neighbors.Buying a bar seemed like the perfect solution. Therefore, The Bierhaus was born. Jerry and Deb have added so many items to their collection since then that they have had to add a three room Beer Collectibles Museum upstairs of the bar.Their collection has been written about in several newspapers and community newsletters. In 2003, the BCCA (Brewery Collectors of America) came to Pittsburgh and held their CANvention in downtown Pittsburgh at the Westin Hotel.Jerry and Deb brought them to Pittsburgh and had Molly's Trolleys bring hundreds of folks from downtown to The Bierhaus. A special documentary was done by Dave & Dave on channel 13 and Dave Crawley of KDKA did a segment on The Bierhaus with the lead on of "The Story's in the Can".It was a great piece. We believe in supporting our local breweries so you can only get Pennsylvania drafts on tap here.We invite you to stop by, have a cold 25 ounce draft, eat some dee-licious bar food, hang out with your friendsand visit our museum.
