PowerLink

PowerLink, a non-profit organization, serves businesses that have a woman acting as chief operating officer, are at least 51 percent woman-owned and operated for profit. The emphasis of the PowerLink advisory process is on teaching the owner to network, access capital, and implement best practices in her industry. PowerLink’s goal is to encourage women business owners to adopt either a permanent Board of Directors or an Advisory Board after the PowerLink year.

Entrepreneur's Quick Guide

The EQ Guide contains a variety of not-for-profit agencies in Southwestern Pennsylvania that offer business assistance to entrepreneurs.

Innovation Works

Innovation Works is a state-sponsored organization working to seed technology companies in Southwestern Pennsylvania and grow them to the point of being self-sustaining. Innovation Works provides risk capital, business expertise, and other resources to high-potential companies with the greatest likelihood for regional economic impact.  The combination of Innovation Work's early-stage investments and the hands-on guidance of our experienced business team helps companies commercialize their innovative technologies, gain critical early customers, develop strategies to maximize their competitive edge, and form relationships with other investors and advisors who can help these companies attract additional capital and grow.

African American Chamber of Commerce

The African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania's mission is to promote access and business opportunities for African American business owners and professionals throughout the region.

CCAC Center for Professional Development

To build this region’s competitiveness, CCAC must be a key element in the value proposition to prospective investors and employers – a guarantor of a constant supply of highly skilled workers.
Toward this objective, the college is transforming its workforce training division into a quality-driven, sales-oriented enterprise that will work closely with the area’s employers and economic development officials. The Center for Professional Development will become the trainer of choice for southwestern Pennsylvania.

Northside Community Development Fund

The Northside Community Development Fund (Northside Fund) is a 501(c)(3) CDFI certified by the Department of Treasury. Established in 2000, the organization is dedicated to a mission of “providing financing and development services to promote community development on Pittsburgh’s Northside.” The Northside Fund operates two lines of business-commercial lending and development services and commercial real estate investment. A third line of business-residential financing services-will be launched in 2006.

Cool Space Locator

Cool Space Locator connects young, innovative, or transitioning companies with the unique but forgotten spaces in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania’s urban and walkable communities.  Driven by the mission “no more empty buildings in the urban core”, the non-profit commercial real estate organization does more than just place emerging businesses in cool spaces.  CSL also acts as an economic development organization, working with the government, economic and community development agencies, and commercial property owners to help boost the growth of office-based jobs in the urban spaces and walkable communities of southwestern Pennsylvania.  Cool Space Locator believes that by ‘recycling’ forgotten buildings instead of sprawling further from the core, the City of Pittsburgh and the region will be able to attract forward-thinking businesses, retain the region’s creative youth, and create a model for sustainable growth.
